Limits for scattering resonances in azimuthally inhomogeneous nanotubes

چکیده
Abstract Resonant electromagnetic scattering has been optimized for angularly inhomogeneous nanotubes characterized by different surface admittances along the two complementary arcs. The optimal designs are substantially more efficient compared to their best homogeneous counterparts and spatial distribution of power reveals nature sustained resonances. In this sense, reported scores constitute limits response that simple class structures can be employed as components in a wide spectrum photonic devices from wave transformers field sensors filters optical lenses.

Scattering Resonances as Viscosity Limits
Using the method of complex scaling we show that scattering resonances of −∆ + V , V ∈ Lc (R), are limits of eigenvalues of −∆ + V − iεx as ε → 0+. That justifies a method proposed in computational chemistry and reflects a general principle for resonances in other settings.
متن کاملResonances in Mie scattering by an inhomogeneous atomic cloud
Despite the quantum nature of the process, collective scattering by dense cold samples of two-level atoms can be interpreted classically describing the sample as a macroscopic object with a complex refractive index. We demonstrate that resonances in Mie theory can be easily observable in the cooperative scattering by tuning the frequency of the incident laser field or the atomic number. The sol...
متن کاملQuantum Resonances in Chaotic Scattering
This letter summarizes numerical results from [1] which show that in quantum systems with chaotic classical dynamics, the number of scattering resonances near an energy E scales like h̄− D(KE)+1 2 . Here, KE denotes the subset of the classical energy surface {H = E} which stays bounded for all time under the flow of H and D (KE) denotes its fractal dimension. Since the number of bound states in ...
متن کاملResonances in Coupled-Channel Scattering
Excited hadrons are seen as resonances in the scattering of lighter stable hadrons like π , K and η . Many decay into multiple final states necessitating coupled-channel analyses. Recently it has become possible to obtain coupled-channel scattering amplitudes from lattice QCD. Using large diverse bases of operators it is possible to obtain reliable finite volume spectra at energies where multip...
